It's mine, all mine. - ldhenson — LiveJournal
It's mine, all mine.
At last I am the proud owner of a copy of Equilibrium. I've wanted to own this movie ever since I saw it last summer, but for a variety of reasons I won't get into now, it just didn't fit into my budget. I didn't want a used or ripped copy, which would have been much cheaper; this movie was criminally under-marketed and I want my money to go to a legit source, dammit. Someone on LJ kindly gave me detailed info about an import version, which sounded way cool, but ultimately I went with the usual.

I will happily recommend DeepDiscountDVD (and its sister site DeepDiscountCD) to anyone. They really do have low prices (I got EQ for about 1/2 to 2/3rds of what I found at other sites), they have a free shipping option, and I've ordered from them in the past and never had a problem getting my stuff.

What I love most about this DVD is the two commentaries, chock-full of eye-opening anecdotes about the tricks of low-budget filmmaking, like the downsides of black floors, how to move a camera the low-tech way if you're really really good at what you do, and the mysteries of sword-belts.

Also of the good: Two weekends ago I got to hang out with marimuf, which was great since I didn't get to see her at MediaWest. The time was lots of fun, but of course, entirely too short. Next year, girl, next year for sure.

Plus, I just banged out about 2500 words on my fic over the last two days. Talking it over with my MW roommates helped a lot, though I think I've wound up turning their idea inside out in a way and making it even harder on myself. I may very well have written myself into a pretty tight corner, and I don't know if I can pull it off. Oh well! I debated it for a while, but I'm too happy with what I've got so far to give it up. So...onward, then.
