So, having been a Monkees fan for a couple of decades, I was saddened when Davy Jones passed away last week. It wasn't until a few days ago that I could bring myself to watch an episode or listen to their music again...but when I did, it made me smile so much it inspired me to make something cheerful and small and bright.
So I did a few pendants referencing their famous shirts with the double row of buttons, in the three most frequent colors they wore :-)

They're scrabble tile pendants. The tiny white buttons were left over from my plush DeLorean project.
I really like how they turned out!

These are so cute! My mom was a founding member of their orignal offical fan club way back in the day haha and she loved how cute these were. It made her smile, cause she was very sad this week too :(
Really like the pendants. Was so shocked when I saw the newspapers the day after as here in the UK the story got massive front page headlines. The Monkees were a huge part of my childhood (hello reruns on WLVI Channel 56!). In fact my Gram once served pizza to Micky when I was like 8 or 9. They were my first-ever concert, aged 14 on the 1986 reunion tour (my Dad took me).
I watched them as a kid too, but didn't really become a fan until the '86 reunion. I was around the same age at the time and didn't get to make it to any concerts...but I did many years later, and it was so much fun. How was the '86 concert?
My teenage diary has an entry from when I re-discovered the Monkees during their '80s comeback. (I'd seen them as a kid but hadn't paid much attention.) That entry contains the line "Davy is soooooooo cute!!!!" In all caps, I think :-)
In the morning When the sun is a lonely light just over the hill When the world is awake and yet all things are still My thoughts keep returning to you as they always will
In the morning I am watching and waiting to see the sun shine And I'm feeling your presence so sweet on my mind For I know you're the love and the light of my life for all time
Juliana How your name brings me awake like the first light of dawn Juliana How it comes to the heart like the wind from the wings of a song Juliana You're my sweet heart's desire You're the face of a dream I have drawn
In the evening With the sweet orange blossoms caressing the air I stare at the sky and I see your face there With the moon in your eyes and the indigo night in your hair
